What does that mean and how do we get back to the Newer Testament pattern of Christian living?

A filter is simply something that keeps the good and bad separate, the offensive and the cherished apart. A filter is put into place to allow the good to flow through while catching invaluable and harmful things. The purpose of a filter is to separate two things. For instance, a spam filter is intended to keep you from receiving a stream of junk email. A circular polarizing filter for a camera lens makes sure only certain aspects of sunlight make it into your photo. And a water filter, of course, is for keeping unwanted impurities from making their way into your drinking glass.It is this filter idea that we want to tackle throughout this book. It is more than mere items that need to be filtered. That will make life a bit more convenient. But more than that, we need to see how God filters His will and His ways to fit into our story. It is quite an undertaking indeed. What God does not initiate; He can never appreciate. In other words, if God is in it or He has not spun it, then He isn't for it and He will not spin it into reality or bless it as it reaches actual people. God is the driver of all that is and will be. The something for nothing generation has sprung upon us and too often we fail to take the time to see our blessings and why we have them.

Forgiveness is an awful weighty word in this world. It is a concept that most of us do not really have a grasp on fully if we are keeping it real. I have been learning about forgiveness for much of my life and without even knowing you, I can say the same is true of you. It is indeed an elusive idea that can be corralled but never fully put to rest. But it is a lifestyle that must be adopted if we are going to experience the best that Christ offers to us. Forgiveness has incredible power, but it certainly does not mean that all will be great after you extend that to others. In fact, I have seen from experience that it could worse before it get's better. Be prepared. You don't forgive for others sake. You forgive for your sake. Your greatest ticket to spiritual freedom is right around the corner. This book will show you how.
