Segon volum de la Gramática de Forteza, que constitueix la primera descripció de la fonètica i la morfologia del català aplicant-hi una visió historicista, comparatista i dialectal, que s’emmiralla en les noves orientacions propugnades per l’escola europea de lingüística romànica del segle XIX.

This Gramática de la lengua catalana by Tomàs Forteza Cortés (Palma, 1838 to 1898) is the first description of the phonetic and morphological structures of Catalan made from historicist, comparative and dialectal approaches. The study is based on the guidelines of the European school of nineteenth-century Romance linguistics, specifically the Grammatik der Sprachen romanischen written by Friedrich Diez. By reading this valuable but little known work we, as stated Antoni M. Alcover in the prologue, «tothom, llingüistes i no llingüistes, faran justicia an el Mestre Forteza apreciant la seua obra així com cal».
