The work provides the reader with information regarding the origins and evolution of this character, with details gleaned from research as well as from oral traditions."

An anthology of previously published works on field research by Vidal, about the traditional iconography in the local art of the Magi, a representation that changed to incorporate distinctive Puerto Rican features. The author also studies the Puerto Rican tradition of celebrating the Day of the Three Kings, perhaps the happiest of popular festivities in the Island.
