The impacts of climate change on agriculture and food production in Southeast Asia will be largely mediated through water, but climate is only one driver of change. Water resources in the region will be shaped by a complex mixture of social, economic and environmental factors. This report reviews the current status and trends in water management in the Greater Mekong Subregion; assesses likely impacts of climate change on water resources to 2050; examines water management strategies in the context of climate and other changes; and identifies priority actions for governments and communities to improve resilience of the water sector and safeguard food production.

These guidelines assist countries in assessing water stress, by providing data on environmental flows (EF), which are necessary for the calculation of SDG 6.4.2 (indicator on water stress), with the aim of fostering a more sustainable water supply.

Esta guía pretende ayudar a los países a participar en la evaluación del indicador 6.4.2 de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) sobre el estrés hídrico mediante la aportación de datos e información acerca de los caudales ambientales. Estos datos son necesarios para el cálculo del indicador 6.4.2 de los ODS sobre el estrés hídrico, y los países deben presentar esta información ante la FAO, que es la organización encargada de custodiar este indicador de los ODS. La presente guía expone un método estándar mínimo, basado principalmente en el Sistema global de información sobre caudales ambientales, y es el enfoque que se empleará para generar los datos de los caudales ambientales de los países que conformarán el informe mundial sobre el indicador 6.4.2 de los ODS.
