These two volumes contain notes written by Barton while attending lectures at Amherst College. One is dated 1827, the other is undated. The lectures he attended cover a variety of topics including theology, geology, mineralogy, natural philosophy, English, French, and chemistry. These volumes are particularily interesting because they include lectures delivered by Edward Hitchcock (1793-1864).

This collection consists of letters written by S. N. Dickinson to Elihu Geer (1817-1887), a printer in Hartford, Conn. The letters concern matters relating to the printing and type founding business. These business matters pertain mostly to the sale of presses, type, paper and other related items. Several letters concern an agreement entered into by Dickinson and Geer to protect each other from monetary loss. Eighteen letters are written by Dickinson's junior partner, Charles C. P. Moody, all of the same nature as those described above. The collection also includes 4 receipts of Elihu Geer.

Collection is primarily letters from Bowles to Austin and Susan. Susan and Austin became acquainted with Bowles soon after their marriage (ca. 1858), and Bowles's letters show a long friendship with both parties. The materials also include other letters (1856-1878) to Austin and Susan Dickinson and compositions of "Reminiscences" concerning Emily Dickinson (1932).
