The Robertsons
This book is a family history of one line of descendants of the Andrew Robertson family. Dr. Andrew Robertson arrived in America as a surgeon with the British Army during the French and Indian War. A few years later, he moved to the Tidewater Area of Virginia. After establishing a successful medical practice, he became a plantation owner and father of a large family. His descendants drifted westward across the United States. Their history is the history of this country. As loyal Southerners, they fought for the Confederacy in Missouri and later followed the goldrush to Virginia City, Montana. Subsequent family members became ranchers, miners, cowboys, and tried their luck in the goldrush to the Yukon. The final generation covered by this book served in World War II. The family had its share of luck and misfortunes, but carried on. This is the story [of] extraordinary people in an ordinary family.
