Biomass Energy is Sustainable Solution for Pollution in Delhi
Delhi, the capital of India faces serious problem of air pollution especially in winter season. This problem becomes so critical that matter is highlighted in Parliament. Various Courts of India have given direction time-to-time to Delhi Government to interfere in this matter. The fact behind this that Delhi is surrounded by states, such as Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, where a lot of unused paddy straw or various crop residues are burnt to clean the fields after harvesting. Due to burning of crop residues thick cloud of smoke emitted causes environmental pollution and creates major threats to human health by deteriorating air quality. The main objective of this manuscript is to provide an evidence-based status of air pollution in Delhi. Effects of air pollution on human health. Action plan for abatement of air pollution due to biomass burning also evaluate the alternative method of utilization of biomass residues as a source of energy.
