There are rides, wonderful interactive livestock events, a one-man band, Motocross, big-name entertainment, the popular Queen contest, Home Economics exhibits, and more. Food is everywhere: funnel cakes, corn dogs, the "Potato Tornado", pork steaks, and goodies for every palate. A waffle ice cream sandwich is really a must. Washington's Town & Country Fair is one of Missouri's oldest and largest, dating back to 1928. By the way, a group of former Queens make an appearance in this book, beginning with 1961. But what is a community without people, you may ask? A group of familiar Washington faces make an appearance between these covers. A cast of unforgettable personalities include: Dr. O. L. Muench, "Ma" Brown at her family shoe store, KLPW personality Frank Lohmeyer, Mr. Julius Rettke from Mo Meerschaum, and Elmar, the "Boss Jeweler". They were all very special people, living in a unique town. There is also a look at Mayor Bleckmann in the 1939 Centennial Parade. Gallenkamp's drugstore and the Old Dutch are in the background.
