A genealogy of the descendants of Jesse Hoskins born about 1741. He married Mary A. in Washington Co., North Carolina. They had 10 children. They were living in Green County, Tennessee in 1789.

Correspondence includes 14 Apr. 1838, Columbia, S.C. to her sister, Miss R.A. Davis, Society Hill, S.C., re news of mutual acquaintances, her satisfaction with life in Columbia and the school, but she suspects much of that was due to presence of "Nathan," stating that a function at Mrs. Hampton's was the only party that she had attended, reporting plans for the school to have a May party and selection of the May queen, and commenting on her experiences at Mrs. Martin's school, where her studies included French and music, reporting that "as for music, Mrs. Martin does not give me much encouragement."

Brief handwritten autobiography of Mary E.F. Davis, born on April 11, 1843. Describes her childhood as a Mormon in London, her work to support the family, her emigration to the United States and the conditions aboard ship, and her travel across the Plains to Cedar City, Utah.
