The 16th century Reformer John Calvin is an outstanding personality. That's why the international Calvin Congress convenes every four years to share insights in the theology and context of his person. Whether it is about the relation between Christianity and politics, Calvin's interpretation of biblical texts or if it's about Calvin, the systematic theologian whose concepts build a cornerstone for nowadays schemes – the papers collected in this volume will help for a better understanding of his significant person and thoughts.

From the art duo Marc Weis and Martin de Mattia, an exhibition catalog and first comprehensive overview of their oeuvre, including photographic, film and installation work. And as in their previous volume, Pie Bible, the work relates to the intimate promises, synchronous levels of meaning and different identities standing for current trends in our society. The duo's work is deeply influenced by childhood television programs, such as Bonanza or Get Smart, then later by other films which became embedded in the collective consciousness. This complicated book, with extensive color reproductions and odd-sized bound pages, includes a long interview with the artists, discussing their approach to narrative and ''the morality of pictures.'' A fascinating presentation of Weis and de Mattia's works, which often produce discomfort, and always provoke new ideas.

Qualitätsverbesserungsinitiativen, bekannt unter der Bezeichnung Pay for Performance (P4P), sind der jüngste Versuch zur Verbesserung der gesundheitlichen Versorgung. Hierbei wird die Behandlungsqualität medizinischer Leistungserbringer anhand von Kennzahlen gemessen; durch finanzielle und nicht-finanzielle Anreize soll positiv Einfluss auf die Behandlungsqualität genommen werden. Die Programme belohnen (bestrafen) Ärzte und Krankenhäuser für das (Nicht-) Erreichen ex-ante definierter Qualitätsziele. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird das derzeitige P4P-Vorzeigeprojekt aus dem US-Bundesstaat Kalifornien näher vorgestellt und die Ausgestaltung der finanziellen und nicht-finanziellen Anreizkomponenten gezeigt. Erstere spiegeln sich wider in der erfolgsorientierten Vergütung, zweitere im Public Reporting, d. h. der Veröffentlichung der gemessenen Behandlungsqualität. Gerade die Schaffung von mehr Transparenz soll die Leistungserbringer zu einer qualitativ hochwertigeren Gesundheitsversorgung motivieren. Im Anschluss an die Darstellung von Anreizwirkungen unterschiedlicher Vergütungsformen folgt eine Bestandsaufnahme bezüglich der Transparenz im deutschen Gesundheitswesen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt hierbei auf der Vorstellung vorhandener Public Reporting Informationsquellen aus dem ambulanten Sektor, die auf ihren Bekanntheitsgrad in der Bevölkerung hin untersucht werden. Nach einer kritischen Betrachtung von P4P wird diskutiert, ob es sich dabei um ein effektives Instrument für das deutsche Gesundheitswesen handeln könnte.
