Human Tragedy
Human Tragedy is an anthology of five past paced standalone Desi tragedies packed with historical and political intrigue. Desi refers to people, themes and culture from South Asia including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Desi author and filmmaker Kai Kazi wrote Human Tragedy with the overarching goal to bring awareness to various social and humanitarian issues stemming around Desi people. Anthology includes five tragedies; Heart of the Visionary AnarchistTragedy follows Mahdi, a South Asian migrant worker who works in slave like conditions in Dubai. Mahdi fuels a revolution for justice and humane treatment for his fellow Desi men with his visionary poetry. Can a poor South Asian migrant really inspire change in an affluent society or will he fall to the hateful modern day pharaohs of Dubai.Heart of BangladeshTragedy takes the reader back to Bangladesh Independence war of 1971 between Pakistan and East Pakistan which led to the birth of Bangladesh as independent country. In the midst of the Bangladeshi liberation war few fared well. The soldiers, the flames and the utter desolation overcame many, but some fought back. In the middle of the chaos Maryam seeks her brother, Mamun, while Archer, an US ambassador, watches the city he has come to love so dearly burn. Nothing is consistent but the fear, felt by all for all, and though the consequences seem to remain within Bangladesh the implications reach much, much farther than anyone could ever have guessed they might. Heart of CyberpathsTragedy focusing on how young Desi teenage girl is lured, manipulated and harassed online by cyberpaths. Inspired by a true case of online tragedy that led to the suicide of a young girl who fell victim to psychopaths who lurk behind false identities online.Heart of Rohingya GenocideTragedy focusing on a family of Rohingyas during the 2012 Rakhine State riots. Follow the tragic life of Rashid, young Rohinyga boy as he tries to provide for his family after his mother dies. With no citizenship, no hope of a proper job and a dwindling circle of people who're able and willing to help the Rohingya people of Myanmar; Rashid and his family face ever more desperate situations and are eventually dragged into a game they cannot comprehend. Heart of Arranged MarriageTragedy follows Rizvi, a self-made man who has everything money can buy--except a wife; his grandmother arranges him to marry a local girl without knowing the girl's true intention. Ritu, on the other hand, declared she would only marry for love, but her family had other ideas as they wanted to use Ritu as way to covet their family with social standing. Two beautiful weddings are arranged where both Ritu and Rizvi agree to marry a stranger from another country in order to keep family happy, but will the two of them find happiness in their own marriages? Anthology also contains a collection of essays by Kai Kazi on various Desi matters. This anthology of Desi tragedies is must read for any Desi book lover or anyone who is looking for a tearjerker.
