Assessing Math Concepts
Assessing math concepts is a continuum of assessments that focuses on important core concepts and related "critical learning phases" that must be in place if children are to understand and be successful in mathematics. This assessment series is based on the premise that teachers will be able to provide more effective instruction and ensure maximum learning for each of their students when they are aware of the essential steps that children move through when developing an understanding of foundational mathematical ideas. The data that is gathered and organized using the assessment tools presented here provides teachers with the information that is needed to determine precisely what children need to learn. Students progress confidently when teachers are able to provide appropriately challenging learning experiences for individuals and classroom groups. - Back cover
