Massachusetts-New Hampshire Boundary Dispute Records
Four documents assembled in 1740 and placed together under the seal of the province of Massachusetts Bay, relating to the setting of the boundary between that province and the province of New Hampshire. Included are a certification, Jan. 13, 1740, by Gov. Belcher, of Joshua Winslow, who attested Benjamin Pollard's declaration; and the declaration, Dec. 30, 1740, of Pollard, a Boston notary public, regarding his unsuccessful attempt to deliver documents to Belcher. There are also contemporary copies of the documents Belcher refused to accept: the Apr. 9, 1740, order in council by George II setting the boundary line; and a 1737 account of the expenses incurred by the commissioners, attested as a true copy by Pollard.
