KaziKidz Teaching Material for Foundation Phase, Grades 1-3: A short version of the teaching resources for Life Skills Teachers. Being physically active contributes to the development of physical competence and fitness as well as to the child’s cognitive, social and emotional development. Physical Education (PE) plays a crucial role in the holistic education and development of children. Yet, in many schools from marginalised neighbourhoods, PE is not given the recognition and importance it deserves. For this reason, the KaziKidz teaching material was developed for teachers, principals, school staff or for those responsible from the Department of Education, in order to contribute to and support the quality of PE in these schools. The exercises and games in this book are easy to use, do not require a lot of material and are met with much joy and enthusiasm by the learners. The teaching material was developed by a team of South African and Swiss experts. The lessons meet the requirements of the South African Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) and are supported by the Department of Education, Eastern Cape. This book is the proceedings of the 2nd international work- shop on model-oriented data-analysis organized by the Inter- national Institute of Applied System Analysis (IIASA) and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The majority of participants is closely related to the development of statistical methods of experimental design. The corresponding approaches are fundamentally based on the idea that a system (object and experiment) has to be described (approximated) by some mathematical model tomake any experimental design reasonable. This fact has mainly initaited the choice of the workshops title. The reports cover the following areas: optimal experimental design, data analysis (mainly regression analysis), quality engineering and other applications.

In this book, Samohýl and Pekař offer a consistent and general non-equilibrium thermodynamic description for a model of chemically reacting mixtures. This type of model is frequently encountered in practice and up until now, chemically reacting systems (out of equilibrium) have rarely been described in books on non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Readers of this book benefit from the systematic development of the theory; this starts with general principles, going through the applications to single component fluid systems, and finishing with the theory of mixtures, including chemical reactions. The authors describe the simplest mixture model – the linear fluid – and highlight many practical and thermodynamically consistent equations for describing transport properties and reaction kinetics for this model. Further on in the book, the authors also describe more complex models. Samohýl and Pekař take special care to clearly explain all methodology and starting axioms and they also describe in detail applied assumptions and simplifications.
