Aldo Leopold (1887-1948), arguably best known for his posthumous A Sand County Almanac (1949), is considered by many the father of modern wildlife management. He developed and described many of the concepts of conservation, ecology, and stewardship of natural resources still used today. Leopold was an astute observer of the land and people's relationship to the land. His writings have endured the test of time and have proven to be remarkably prophetic and relevant to today's issues. Lessons from Leopold: Learning from the Land takes 54 selections of Leopold's writings relevant to current-day conservation issues as a starting point to provide thought-provoking lessons that have direct application to contemporary land management. Notable Texas conservationist Steve Nelle brings Leopold's message into our current context, touching on a variety of issues including ecology, land ethics, conservation, and land and wildlife management. Nelle's pieces originally appeared as a bimonthly column for Texas Wildlife, Texas Wildlife Association's monthly magazine. This collection of works has been edited and organized into a coherent whole as seven chapters, accompanied by short introductions to place the lessons into a wider topical context. The book includes an introduction by Iliana Peña, 15 archival photographs, and 20 color photographs by nature photographer Wyman Meinzer.

Catalog for Project:MASA-V "Mars Needs More Women" exhibit scheduled at Centro Cultural Aztlan, San Antonio, Texas on March 24th - June 10th. It is part of the ongoing Project:MASA exhibit series which gathers Chican@ artists that use outer space and science fiction iconography with past present and future tropes to comment on social-political issues that affect our gente presently and into the future. Cathryn Merla-Watson Phd., co-editor of "Altermundos'' -the first edited volume dedicated to theorizing Chican@futurism and Latin@futurism, has agreed to write the essay for the catalog that will accompany the exhibit. Merla-Watson will be curating the exhibit together with Iliana Pompa, MA Art History Candidate, UTSA. Merla-Watson is also collaborating with Latinx futurism scholar Matthew Goodwin (University of New Mexico) to plan a national conference at the University of New Mexico in Spring of 2023 and will include the exhibit in the conference. The two have an advanced book contract with The Ohio State University Press (New Suns Series) to publish a related edited volume following the conference. The local and state media will receive media packages and press releases. The plan for marketing on a national platform for this exhibit will include Merla-Watson's presentation of the exhibit participants within the scope of her research at a conference to be held at the University of New Mexico in Spring of 2023. Additional collaboration with San Antonio Chican@ performance artist Catherine Cisneros of Urban-15 and author/poets Victoria Fennel and Anel I. Flores in organizing a poetry and performance response to the exhibit for the catalog. All of which will be documented in video form for future reference and presentation. In total, this intergenerational exhibit will present fourteen women artists from the frontera of South Texas, San Antonio and Austin(the I-35, I-37, I-69 corridor) dealing with Chican@futurism through their works. They include Cathrine Cisneros, Celeste De Luna, Yareth Fernandez, Brandy González, Suzy Gonzalez, Nansi Guevara, Mari Hernandez, Terry Ibañez, Lizette Ortiz, Pocha Peña, Sam Rawls, Natalia Rocafuerte, Mary Agnes Rodriguez, Ana Lilia Salinas, Liliana Wilson, Cindy Valderas, Guillermina Zabala.

Sin lugar a duda, la efervescencia electoral fue el elemento más sobresaliente del primer semestre de 2018 en México, con el contundente triunfo de Andrés Manuel López Obrador como el culmen de un proceso en el que el tres veces candidato presidencial supo capitalizar el encono y la rabia de millones de personas, y transmutarlos en esperanza. El estrepitoso derrumbe del tradicional sistema de partidos, con el PRI a la cabeza, dio pie a una reconfiguración del mapa político del país, con el Movimiento de Regeneración Nacional (Morena), que encabeza López Obrador, como principal fuerza en el Legislativo federal, lo que abre la puerta para que el nuevo presidente cumpla sus promesas de campaña en lo político, económico y social, ámbitos en los que casi todo se supeditó al resultado de la jornada del 1 de julio, durante el periodo analizado.
