The annual IDIMT conferences, established in 1993, are today an established platform for scientific information interchange in the wide, interdisciplinary filed of computer science and informatics. On the occasion of the 25th Anniversary in 2017 this the booklet provides a retrospective on the long history and evolution of the IDIMT conferences, detailing for each conference some essential aspects of each conference with respect to location and their contents. It also presents statistical data about the development of the conference which now proudly contains around 50 papers and a proceeding volume of 450 pages.

In robotic beating heart surgery, a remote-controlled robot can be used to carry out the operation while automatically canceling out the heart motion. The surgeon controlling the robot is shown a stabilized view of the heart. First, we consider the use of directional statistics for estimation of the phase of the heartbeat. Second, we deal with reconstruction of a moving and deformable surface. Third, we address the question of obtaining a stabilized image of the heart.

Untangling the complex effects that different air pollution and climate change factors cause to forest ecosystems is challenging. Supersites, that is, comprehensive measurement sites where research and monitoring of the whole soil–plant–atmosphere system can be carried out, are suggested as a refinement of the current monitoring and research efforts in Europe. This chapter identifies and discusses key measurements to be carried out at such supersites, with a focus on four topical subjects: the carbon, nitrogen, ozone and water budgets. This kind of holistic approach is vital to a realistic translation of the ongoing changes in climate and air quality into research on the impacts on forest ecosystems. Such an integrated effort requires a considerable use of resources at highly instrumented measurement sites and can only be achieved by building on existing infrastructures.

Bereits vor etwa 950 Jahren mischten die Haunsberger bei der Machtaufteilung unter den Fürsten und Grafen zwischen Salzburg, Bayern und Österreich kräftig mit. Ausgehend von ihrem Stammsitz in St. Pankraz am Haunsberg bauten sie in dieser Region ihr Herrschaftsgebiet östlich der Salzach auf ehemals Passauer Boden auf. Die auf einem schroffen Felsvorsprung errichtete Stammburg der Hochfreien von Haunsberg in St. Pankraz am Haunsberg war Machtzentrale und Herrschaftsmittelpunkt dieses Hochadelsgeschlechts. Ihre Besitzungen trugen wesentlich zur Landeswerdung Salzburgs bei und bilden im Norden des Landes heute noch die Grenze. Den Haunsbergern gehörten sogar das Gebiet um die Stadt Linz und nördlich daran anschließend weite Teile des mittleren Mühlviertels. Nachweisbar fünf Generationen lang (etwa von 1070 bis 1215) dauerte die Blüte dieses edelfreien Geschlechts, dessen Wirken die Geschichte der Region im deutschen Südosten nachhaltig beeinflußt hat.
