"Il filo e il fiume" è un racconto fotografico dedicato al Po e ai territori che il fiume attraversa, composto da una cinquantina di scatti realizzati da Paolo Simonazzi tra il 2013 e il 2021. Protagonista è il lento e pesante scorrere del fiume, che appare anche laddove non fotografato direttamente: la sua presenza emerge nel paesaggio circostante e nelle persone che abitano i luoghi solcati dalle sue acque. Territori uniti come da un filo, parte di un mondo che in realtà non esiste più, e di cui l'autore - nel solco di una tradizione fotografica che inizia nel dopoguerra - ci consegna le ultime tracce, invitandoci all'ascolto di quello che Francesco Zanot chiama "il canto flebile di un territorio sovra-territoriale, all'attacco della geografia politica, aggrappato com'è alla linea traballante dell'acqua per centinaia di chilometri".
