The Language and the Law of God
Examines the exegesis by Egyptian Jewish philosopher, who lived in the first centuries BC and AD, of the Holy Book given to Moses on Mount Sinai. Considers the relationship between the interpretation of the law and applications in chapters on the language of God and men and harmony and disorder. Then looks at the type of exegesis Philo conducted, its hermeneutic principles, and the interpretive modes that are also found in the Greek commentaries or in Rabbinical literature. No subject index.
