The references contained in this bulletin were compiled in connection with an investigation by the Bureau of Public Roads of the effect of soil alkalies on concrete drain tile. The bibliography is believed to be fairly complete in respect to articles published prior to 1924. The importance of the problem presented by the use of concrete structures in sea water and in soils containing various acids and alkalies has long been recognized.
Large-scale photography (LSP) may be a useful tool to measure traditional and non-traditional forest attributes. This paper evaluates an LSP system for plot sampling in Great Lakes-St. Lawrence forests by comparing the utility of leaf-off and leaf-on imagery, assessing targeting accuracy, and comparing ground and LSP values for some commonly measured inventory, research and monitoring variables, and for less commonly measured variables.
