This collection consists of the papers of John M. Evans, Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Montana. It consists entirely of correspondence, much of which deals with postal issues, specifically the appointment of Phillip Goodwin as postmaster in Butte.

Interview with John Evans, Jr., an Army veteran and nurse, concerning his experiences as an Army nurse in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Evans discusses his assignment to the Convalescent Center at Cam Ranh Bay, the attack by an enemy sapper team in August of 1969, morale and drug problems, living conditions, recreation, and his readjustment to stateside life.

In this letter, Daniel M. Evans, who was a journalist in London, England before moving to Stockton, California in 1879, is offering his services as a journalist to the Stockton weekly newspaper People's Advocate. The newspaper had just published its first issue and Evans liked it so much that he wanted to work for them.
