This is a genealogical history of the various Keefer, Kieffer, Keffer, Kueffer families who were early immigrants to America -- those who came to the western hemisphere before 1800, settling primarily in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Daniel Webster Shotwell was born May 21, 1845 in New Jersey. His parents were Jacob Shotwell and Dorcas Drake. Louisa Jane Drake was born December 12, 1848 in Antwerp, New York. Her parents were Martin Drake and Maryett Young. Daniel and Louisa were married July 23, 1865. They had six children. They lived first in Green Valley, Illinois and then migrated to Baldwin City, Kansas. where Daniel died in 1931 and Louisa died in 1933.
