In the Hand the Blade
A series of fantasy sword adventures of a young man, the unknown hero, Alexander, cast into the turmoil of personal challenges, adventures, violence, brutal deaths, political intrigue, war, epic battlers, civil war ‘A civil war is very rarely civil’ and all-encompassing challenges, love and camaraderie. He is taken under the guidance of a Master Swordsman and trained in the ways of Eastern martial arts. Through no design of his own, Alexander finds himself taking on the burden of gathering together an eclectic group of men, women and lost souls to defend his country from a ruthless invading horde. Many a fine and brave warrior stands beside him to share his yoke, whilst he is still coming of age himself. He is presented with a magnificent katana Star Sword (a unique blade forged from the remnants of a meteor) which brings with it a group of trained and dedicated swordsmen. He is also supported by the remnants of a clan of mainly women and a motley, but intriguing set of allies gathered along his uncharted path, for instance a man who lives with wolves, a man who lives with bees, a woman who collects human tattoos off live enemy and another rat-like man known only as Ferret. Alexander weaves his way through a tapestry of epic misadventures, as his journey twists and turns, pitiless battles, powerful villains and macabre situations, all to defend his country, his family, his people and his honour. His friends become his enemies and his enemies become his friends, as he forges on through life’s mysteries and obstacles, armed only with his blade, reliance on his close associates and self-assurance, all the time battling with the notion in his head, that the Fates are toying with his life and happiness. ‘In the Hand the Blade’ is the first book in a series of novels that follows Alexander, from his being an insecure young man, through his periods of maturity as he develops and fights his own demons, as he struggles against the overwhelming odds of the challenges that the Fates, throw in his path.
