Being spiritual is oe of the most misunderstood concepts in the modern Christian world. In I Corinthians, the Apostle Paul gives specific guidelines for determining whether actions and attitudes are spiritual or carnal. In essence it is like a diagnostic manual, explaining how to diagnose problems and what to do to correct them and prevent other problems.

Over the years numerous churches have held revival meetings to try to energize their people and increase their attendance. They bring in a recommended Evangelist to preach a series of evangelistic messages and special guests or musicians to draw a large crowd. Many times they get a dramatic increase during the meeting, but as soon as the meeting is over, things quickly return to the original state. By correctly diagnosing what is needed in a particular church, and taking appropriate action to correct the problems, it should be possible to produce more permanent results, greatly strengthening the church. Specific examples from scripture are used to help in making an accurate diagnosis as to what is needed. This is followed with specific recommendations from scripture as to how the problems should be addressed, and what can be expected if those recommendations are followed.

The book of Genesis provides the basis of much of the teachings of both Judaism and Christianity. It also provides a record of the relationships between members of Abraham's family, God, and various neighboring groups over a period of nearly three hundred years. This makes it one of the longest running studies of such relationships ever done. By studying these relationships we can learn a lot about why people develop certain attitudes and respond to different situations. As a result we can make reasonable predictions as to how changes in our behavior will affect our children, and our neighbors. It also helps to understand our own reactions .

The goal of this book is to provide simple methods for determining what the author actually meant. In School, students are taught ways of checking their answers so they can be sure they are right. There are ways of checking one's interpretation of the scriptures as well. Unfortunately, just as most kids assume they are right and don't check their work, most Bible students don't check their conclusions, other than to see if there are other people who agree with them. This results in most of the confusion about what the Bible says. The techniques in this book minimize mis-understandings, then provide a way of checking the conclusions that are developed, providing great assurance as to one's correct understanding.

The Apostle Paul gave specific instructions as to how Christian leaders should minister to others. I Timothy deals with the practical aspects of day to day ministry. II Timothy focuses on the spiritual and mental preparation of the minister to maintain an effective ministry. Titus explains how to choose and train others to maintain and expand the ministry. Philemon demonstrated the application of the principle found in I Timothy 5:1-2.

There is a lot of confusion about the importance and relevance of the Old Testament Law and what it required. This is a detailed study of the book of Leviticus, looking in detail at what the laws were and why they were given. The law was a very practical guide for having the best possible life here on earth, and is still applicable for that purpose, but it provided no promises for eternity. Understanding of what the law required does provide a very real insight into what God expects from his people, however.

The book of Acts describes the Holy Spirit's working in the early church which resulted in its spread throughout the known world.
