She chooses an unlikely setting, a nursing home in a small town, where the heroine is trapped and speechless over 23 years, then with a few surprises and some twists and turns, all the curves straighten out and light is focused partly because of the birds, and partly because of Robin's persistence to known who this unknown heroine really is.

When Grace was a little girl in Cordele, Georgia, around the time of World War II, a storm came up one day, and lightning struck the big old tree in her front yard. Grace told me that her daddy wanted to cut the limbs then, but her mama asked him not to because it made a safe climbing tree for Grace. Even though it was again struck by lightning years later, that tree remained standing. Maybe that is what life is like. Look at Graces story. Her mama died when Grace was fourteen, and in weeks, her daddy had remarried. He brought home not only a strict and punishing stepmother but also a threatening stepbrother. Along with them came a hidden surprise who became Graces joyful responsibility. You may want to read the book to find out if being buried underground beneath a dam north of Atlanta could prevent Grace from climbing out and finishing high school and college with honors. Or even whether she was successful in revealing the truth about the death of a Civil War soldier and returning his remains to his hometown and present-day family. Or whether such things are even possible.

Jane Ann Rogers is 15 years old when she travels from Britain to America with her parents in 1852. They were hoping she would enjoy looking for gold in California so much that she would forget about dreaming how to paint portraits as she was. On their way by wagon, they are trapped in an avalanche and her parents are killed. Jane Ann is kept alive when a white buffalo cow settles across where shes buried. She is saved by a small hunting party of young Sioux Lakota who take her to their Medicine Man (Grandfather) and his daughter (Rena) with whom she lives for over three years while her broken bones are mending. Chief Sitting Bull discovered that she has visions of White Buffalo Woman and he asks her to tell the people what she can about the white man coming to Sioux land. He named her Sioux Blessing Girl but she is afraid the people will not like what she says. She decides to run away and ends up a captive of a band of Crow renegades led by a white Cavalry officer.She is protected by Bear, a cousin of Red Cloud. She is rescued by Red Cloud, but later she must choose between Red Cloud and Bear. Her husband and child are killed after she has been kidnapped and taken to St. Louis. Jane Ann is rescued by an old friend who helps her get passage back to Indian territory. She finds her husband and son have been killed. She tracks their spirits to the sacred Black Hills where White Buffalo Woman helps convince her to release them to Spirit and return home to England.

Robert J. Ranger is an attorney temporarily practicing as a private investigator. He leaves New York, at the request of an attorney friend, Larry Braden, to investigate the unusual death of an entomologist who is found in a wealthy rancher's vineyard. The request came when R.J. faced difficult decisions regarding his personal and professional life. The people he meets in Fresno County are diversified in their reaction to him. Most are hostile and uncooperative, including arrogance from Howard Martin, his client, and owner of the vineyards. The most favorable are the gentle psychologist and the emergency room nurse. Despite the dangerous encounters, as a wine enthusiast, R.J. appreciates the bounty of the grape.

Coming Winter is about reaching a stage in life where we begin to notice differences within and around us. Things are changing like the season does in autumn, we re realizing we re older and becoming more spiritual. We might notice attitudes or habits we try to improve on, and we may even reach a deeper level of love with others we care for. The world, meantime, is going through similar changes. People become more dear to us. The world itself becomes a dear place to be. We want it all perfect, yet do we know what perferct is?

The object of the Project Demonstrating Excellence was to integrate prior and new learning in a creative format based upon the exploration of my experience and that of other helping professionals who use creative expression to attain and enhance personal well-being. Heuristic Inquiry, a search for discovery of meaning and essence in significant human experience, was the research method used. the data emerging from this pursuit were original, autobiographical, and descriptive of a lived experience, affirming imagination, intuition, self-reflection, and a tacit dimension in the search for understanding. Co-researchers recorded their experiences through elected modes of creative expression such as poetry, audio and/or video recording, transcription, journal writing, and other art work. Co-researchers' raw materials were gathered after several months; an immersion process was followed, and an illumination emerged. A comprehensive depiction included the essential themes and qualities of each participant's experience.
