Ascension
Ascension, it was always going to lead to this. In "Balance of War" Celecia and Dakoran fought to protect their friends and allies, while searching for a peaceful resolution to the war. In the end, they failed. Over four billion people perished and the planet was thrown into chaos. Now, all that remains is a last-ditch effort to save those that survived and then somehow end a threat looming over the entire universe. This time, failure is not an option. Standing in the way of victory are lessons Celecia still needs to learn and a populace that has become increasingly hostile. Dakoran embarks upon a treacherous journey to once again reunite with his love. Along the way, he must fight off the ravenous reekers, establish rapport with the Wolves of Windimere and survive the Mist of Mira. Celecia, despondent over the time she lost with her children, wants nothing more than to spend her remaining time raising a family. Izmir's government, seeking a scapegoat for the world's demise, sets their sight upon magic in general, and Celecia in particular. Celecia is faced with a final decision: fight or flight. And while events swirl around them, one last hope remains...Fair, and the possibility of sanctuary among the faeries. Enter the world of Verdan and learn how magic has survived time and become life's final champion. Can the peace promised in "The Fourth Age" finally be realized? And what price must be paid to bring it about?

His Majesty's Rebels
His Majesty's Rebels
A series of rebellions in the small, impoverished Black Forest lordship of Hauenstein between 1725 and 1745 provide David Martin Luebke with evidence for a new and more nuanced view of peasant action and discourse on power and community. In the rebellions called the Salpeter Wars, the peasants of Hauenstein sought to curtail the expansion of centralizing bureaucratic powers that were eroding traditional local autonomies. They could not agree how best to resist and two factions emerged, the quarrels between them escalating finally into civil war. After twenty years of bloody feuding, several lawsuits, three Austrian military invasions, and half a dozen rebel attempts to engineer the personal involvement of the Emperor, the Salpeter Wars ended with the destruction of precisely those autonomies that Hauenstein's peasant elites had set out to defend. Luebke challenges the dominant paradigm on peasant rebellion which holds that social integration and political solidarity characterize the peasant village and structure its rebel activity. He argues for a concept of the peasant community flexible enough to accommodate the divisions characteristic of early modern peasant society. State building, combined with a long-term trend toward social stratification among peasants, rearranged patterns of mutual dependency between rulers and subjects in ways that often created factional rifts among the subjects. In His Majesty's Rebels Luebke elucidates the dynamics of peasant rebellions.

50 Touchstones That Guided David Schulman's Life Can Guide Yours, Too This black and white version book contains 50 touchstones, or philosophies, that provided award-winning General Agent David Schulman with direction and comfort during those times when he needed a moment of inspiration. His hope is that even one of them will help you see your situation in a new way; save you time, effort, or money; or keep you from making a costly mistake. The touchstones in Shared Wisdom provide practical guidance with a philosophical twist, as well as personal anecdotes, on many subjects. Here are just a few examples: * Closing the gap between reality and expectations* Letting team members fire themselves* Sharing your good fortune with others* Savoring the great moments in life* Preparing for and getting through the difficult times* Keeping perspective in any situation David is the longest-serving General Agent in MassMutual's history and was the youngest person, at age 26, to be named a General Agent for the company. He retired in 2016. David took the agency from dead last of 103 agencies in 1980 to finish second in the company, with more than $25 million of base life insurance premiums. For those in the insurance and financial services industry, the book's appendix contains a list of 10 common traits of highly successful leaders revealed in a paper David wrote as a member of the RAGS Study Group, the summary and conclusion of that paper, and an article on the same topic that he cowrote with Patrick Leary of LIMRA for an issue of LIMRA's MarketFacts Quarterly.

Two Visionary Brothers
Two Visionary Brothers
David and Alfred Smart were the Chicago-based founders of Esquire magazine, launched in 1933. One of the first men's fashion magazines, Esquire was also distinguished by the high quality of its literary and editorial features: the first issue included pieces by Ernest Hemingway and Jon Dos Passos, and Dashiell Hammett. The Smart brothers' other ventures included Coronet Films, the nation's leading producer of educational and training films during the Cold War era—many of which are now cult favorites. This fully illustrated biography chronicles their lives and innovations in the film and magazine publishing business.

Zinnophobia
Zinnophobia
Zinnophobia offers an extended defense of the work of radical historian Howard Zinn, author of the bestselling A People's History of the United States, against his many critics. It includes a discussion of the attempt to ban Zinn's book from Indiana classrooms; a brief summary of Zinn's life and work; an analysis of Zinn's theorizing about bias and objectivity in history; and a detailed response to twenty-five of Zinn's most hostile critics, many of whom are (or were) eminent historians. 'A major contribution to bringing Zinn’s great contributions to even broader public attention, and exposing features of intellectual and political culture that are of no little interest.' Noam Chomsky
