The Canadian Biotechnology Strategy Task Force is an interdepartmental body consulting with provincial governments, industry, and the community at large on the development of a shared vision as to how biotechnology can best contribute to improving the quality of life and to maximizing social and economic benefits in an ethically and environmentally responsible manner. This report summarizes the consultation process and the common themes emerging from the consultation's round tables. These themes included use of a sector-specific approach, ensuring inclusive representation and transparency, development of specific proposals, objectives and principles of the proposed strategy, the role of a proposed advisory body for biotechnology, and public awareness and participation.
