This book investigates how decolonising the curriculum might work in English studies — one of the fields that bears the most robust traces of its imperial and colonial roots — from the perspective of the semi-periphery of the academic world- system. It takes the University of Lisbon as a point of departure to explore broader questions of how the field can be rethought from within, through Anglophone (post)coloniality and an institutional location in a department of English, while also considering forces from without, as the arguments in this book issue from a specific, liminal positionality outside the Anglosphere. The first half of the book examines the critical practice of and the political push for decolonising the university and the curriculum, advancing existing scholarship with this focus on semi-peripheral perspectives. The second half comprises two theoretically-informed and classroom-oriented case studies of adaptation of the literary canon, a part of model syllabi that are designed to raise awareness of and encourage an understanding of a global, pluriversal literary history.

Taking up the roles that Salman Rushdie himself has assumed as a cultural broker, gatekeeper, and mediator in various spheres of public production, Ana Cristina Mendes situates his work in terms of the contemporary production, circulation, and consumption of postcolonial texts within the workings of the cultural industries. Mendes pays particular attention to Rushdie as a public performer across various creative platforms, not only as a novelist and short story writer, but also as a public intellectual, reviewer, and film critic. Mendes argues that how a postcolonial author becomes personally and professionally enmeshed in the dealings of the cultural industries is of particular relevance at a time when the market is strictly regulated by a few multinational corporations. She contends that marginality should not be construed exclusively as a basis for understanding Rushdie’s work, since a critical grounding in marginality will predictably involve a reproduction of the traditional postcolonial binaries of oppressor/oppressed and colonizer/colonized that the writer subverts. Rather, she seeks to expand existing interpretations of Rushdie’s work, itineraries, and frameworks in order to take into account the actual conditions of postcolonial cultural production and circulation within a marketplace that is global in both orientation and effects.

Para el grupo de investigación en Derecho Internacional de la Facultad de Jurisprudencia de la Universidad del Rosario y los editores de este libro, es un gusto presentar a la comunidad académica esta nueva obra que recoge los mejores trabajos presentados en el IV Congreso de Derecho Internacional, realizado en abril del 2022, el cual contó con la participación de conferencistas del más alto nivel representando 14 nacionalidades. Los mejores escritos de investigación del llamado a contribuciones fueron seleccionados para la presente obra, sometida a evaluación de pares y que refleja el diálogo y desarrollo temático del Congreso. La primera sección del libro está dedicada al derecho internacional público visto desde las decisiones judiciales de tribunales internacionales y las organizaciones internacionales. La segunda se centra en el derecho internacional de los derechos humanos, la salud y el medio ambiente. La tercera sección incluye capítulos relativos al derecho internacional penal y el derecho internacional humanitario. La cuarta, y última, reúne contribuciones en derecho internacional económico y privado. La portada de este volumen muestra el Palacio de la Paz en la ciudad de La Haya donde, además de la Corte Internacional de Justicia y de la Corte Permanente de Arbitraje, tiene su sede la Academia de Derecho Internacional de La Haya, que en 2023 celebra 100 años, a lo largo de los cuales han sido invitados selectos académicos internacionalistas latinoamericanos como ponentes, conmemoración que se exalta en la introducción de este libro.

Sobre a obra Saneamento Básico no Brasil - 1a Ed - 2023 "As Diretrizes Nacionais para o Saneamento Básico, instituídas pela Lei 11.445/2007, passaram por relevantes alterações e atualizações no ano de 2020, por meio da Lei 14.026, de 15 de julho de 2020. A referida Lei 14.026/2020 modificou, ainda, a Lei 9.884/2000, para atribuir à Agência Nacional de Águas e Saneamento Básico – ANA competência para instituir normas de referência para a regulação dos serviços de saneamento básico; a Lei 10.768/2003, para alterar a nomenclatura e atribuições do cargo de Especialista em Recursos Hídricos; a Lei 11.107/2005, para vedar contratos de programa para prestação dos serviços públicos de que trata o art. 175 da Constituição Federal; a Lei 12.305/2010, para definir prazos para a disposição final ambientalmente adequada dos rejeitos e a sustentabilidade econômico-financeira dos serviços; a Lei 13.089/2015 para estender seu âmbito de aplicação às unidades regionais de saneamento e, finalmente, a Lei 13.529/2017 para autorizar a União a participar de fundo com a finalidade exclusiva de financiar serviços técnicos especializados.
