Using the intellect to investigate Truth: We often underestimate and undermine the place of the intellect in an exploration of the truth. We feel and think that it has little role to play in reaching that expansion of consciousness which is Godhead. However, without a gradual development of and judicious use of the intellect, it is highly unlikely that one would even set that expansive state as one’s goal. One’s mind would instead be simply confined to the toys of life. My goal with this book is to provide food for expansive thought. Perhaps you may find a gem here or a jade there that is relevant to your own growth. If so, my purpose would have been accomplished.

That elusive behemoth, consciousness, so intractable from the scientific perspective is taken up for a mathematical treatment in this volume. The curious reader will find, we hope, the theory plausible; it is shown to have applications. Sidelights include chapters on a data encoding problem, a foray into quantum entropy and a short chapter on spirituality.

In volume three of this series, we saw a mathematical approach to consciousness. In the present volume we present certain pointers towards the view that consciousness itself may be an appearance before an observer. By noting the link between consciousness and universal nature, we arrive at the deduction that universal nature itself might be transitory. Thus, a scientific investigation, when combined with spiritual thinking, is shown to lead us to perhaps a very deep truth about our universe and man's place in it - a truth the Buddha also stated. We hope the reader will enjoy this humble offering at the feet of God and Gurus.
