John A. Poor Natural History Lectures
Handwritten ms. pages (mostly folded, sewn, or otherwise bound together) of outlines of thought, essays, lectures and lecture notes, chiefly written and/or probably delivered by John Poor between 1815 and 1828, primarily in Montréal and Québec, as well as Lancaster, Bath, and Burlington, Vt. General topics of the lectures include anatomy and physiology, natural history, natural theology, natural philosophy, plants, the vegetable kingdoms, Christian principles, religion, the laws of education, animal organs and their economy, influence of the soul on the vital organs, matter, etc. There is also some mention of the establishment of a medical school in Canada.
