De novohispanos a mexicanos
This publication presents a comprehensive study in the context of portraiture and a masterfully realized study of the fundamental stages of Mexico's political events, artistic, social and scientific. It shows how all classes and social groups represented themselves, the visual symbols of power, wealth and collective moral values in New Spain and the evolution in Mexico during Independence as represented by the painters of the eighteenth and first half of the nineteenth centuries. Outstanding works of Spanish artists such as José Joaquín de la Vega, Pelegrí, the Mexican painter Juan Cordero, are well represented.
