Journeys of Ego - Mi in the Christian Faith
Ego Mi is fictional person and the name Mi is intended to depict a truthful inner person without any effected appearances. This book presents the thoughts and aspirations of Mi through whose presentations we see the issues explored. The book is a collection of short essays and stories which climax in articles that are focused on the teaching of Jesus Christ and played out in the induction of Mi into the Christian faith. The themes in the stories and articles are exploratory of contemporary issues underlying the teaching of Jesus Christ about love of the neighbour. In that respect this writing presents the teaching of Jesus Christ and its application to contemporary social situations Mi discusses in his induction. The last articles presented as the last five chapters attempt to demonstrate the relevance of the teaching of Jesus Christ to contemporary issues such is leadership and the love of neighbour in social relations. Mi is a person who has a childlike thirst for truth. Through his eyes or that of his mentor who sometimes doubles as a Narrator, the reader is taken through the attempts of Ego Mi to understand the realities of his society and the faith he subscribes to. The last articles present the understanding of Mi on the specific topics of: 'The Fulfilment of Law', 'Christian Leadership', 'Love of the Neighbour' and 'Good Governance'. The reader is taken progressively through the first fledgling steps and experience of Mi in the Christian Faith which climaxes with more bold and mature assertions about the relevance of his faith to contemporary social relations. The bold assertion among others is that civil leaders in Uganda should be the light and salt of the country. In the journeys of faith, the assertions of Mi climax with discussions about law and morality. It highlights the evils of corruption and how a Christian approach to good governance overcomes it. The context of the stories and articles is a church community in Uganda which Mi had recently joined and from which point onwards he was undergoing the basic induction course to be a Christian. Secondly, Mi and his fellow brethren undergoing the course are presented as students undergoing an orientation course to deepen their Christian knowledge and experience and to train them to be able to present the faith of Jesus Christ to other persons as well. This book attempts to demonstrate that the teaching of Jesus Christ on righteousness includes and goes beyond family values and extends to social responsibilities and good governance issues. It proposes what should be the characteristics of Christian leadership in all spheres of life.
