My First Alarm Clock
Life is full of little comforts that we take for granted. When was the last time that you even thought about your alarm clock as a blessing? How would you feel if you couldn't keep track of time? What kind of difficulties would you run into? We often take the everyday comforts and simple things of life - the little tools and objects that we use on a regular basis - for granted. Unfortunately, for many people the vast majority of these thing are not readily available. Amit's story is a testament to how life would be different without even one of these simple comforts. It's the year 2000. Amit is a 10-year-old boy in 5th grade, and despite his age he is very diligent and polite. However, Amit continuously loses track of the time because he doesn't have a watch or alarm clock. Because of this, he's often late getting to school, and he has to be awakened by his father in the morning. Amit's father is a very strict man when it comes to studies and school. He wakes up his son everyday at 4 a.m., places a candle on Amit's desk, and urges him to study before going to school. Sometimes, our young protagonist is so absorbed by his books that he doesn't even notice the sky turn from dark to light outside his window. One day at school, the principal announces that whoever gets the highest marks and comes first in the next exam will be given an alarm clock as a prize. Will Amit be able to come in first and finally get his own alarm clock? Or will he find difficulties along his path that may cause him to miss his goal? The only way to find out is by reading My First Alarm Clock: Inspiration Book by Amit Kumar Bharti, a inspirational short story based on the author's life experiences. What are you waiting for?
