University of California, Berkeley. Deptartment of Earth and Planetary Science Records
The collection includes museum accession ledgers, specimen catalogs, and notes produced and collected by the University of California Museums of Economic Geology (1880-1887), Mineralogy (1881-1888) and Petrography (1880-1940), over the course of their lifetimes. Additional mineralogical catalogs were donated to the University of California Library by San Francisco financier, philanthropist, and mineral collector F.L.A. Pioche around the time the Library moved from Oakland to South Hall on the UC Berkeley campus (c. 1873). The collection also includes materials documenting the Brewer (Whitney) Survey (1862) as well as the California Geographical Survey (1860-1870).
