Correspondence (1880-1936) consists of some 700 letters, 146 by Mahon and the remainder to him from 238 correspondents including Archbishop Carr (15), Alfred Deakin (4), J.S. Dowling (6), Lord Novar (12), Andrew Fisher (10), J.H. Fitzpatrick (8), Archbishop Mannix (4), J.H.P. Murray (5), Sir George Pearce (230 and James Smith (11). The correspondence generally results from Mahon's action in specific matters such as censorship of correspoondence with the Holy See (1915-1916), The Panama-Pacific Exposition, San Francisco (1915-1916) and affairs of the Northern Territory, Papua and Norfolk Is. The correspondence also covers Mahon's early years and imprisonment in Ireland. Half the collection consists of press cuttings relating to Mahon's political career and his interest in Catholic and Irish affairs.

Consists of correspondence, both personal and business, from 1916-1990; includes a long series of correspondence from the early 1930s with his future wife, Dorothy Duncan; also includes manuscripts and typescripts of novels and other writings, drafts of Two solitudes and The watch that ends the night, 2 unpublished novels: So all their praises (1933) and A man should rejoice (ca. 1937), business papers including contracts and royalty statements, photographs, and other memorabilia.

Autograph manuscripts and typescripts by Hugh McCulloch of his poems, short stories, essays, and other prose. Also includes: letters, written after McCulloch's death in 1902, from Harvard professor Barrett Wendell and Stephen Hills Parker to Harvard librarian William C. Lane; and a box made of vellum, that Parker had made in Florence to house McCulloch's manuscripts in the Harvard Library. Note found with this collection indicates that the manuscripts were "arranged by S. H. Parker" (the donor).
