Anthony Roth (d.1784/1785) and his family immigrated in 1752 from Germany to York County, Pennsylvania. Descendants chiefly used the surname Rhodes, and lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and elsewhere.

William Bonar was born in 1721. He emigrated from Ireland in about 1738 with his brothers Barnett and John. He settled in Roanoke, Virginia. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Iowa.
