Paper presents some important reasons for preserving wilderness and other natural areas, a classification of the kinds of natural areas that need to be preserved in a provincial system of natural areas of significance, and argues that to resolve questions of land use conflict, there needs to be a proper process for land use planning, including natural area preservation.
