The Collective Memory and Challenges of Feminism
This publication was presented at the panel on Equity and Human Rights, held in Peru in February 2000, in conjunction with the 8th regional conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean. It reviews feminist political philosophy from the Enlightenment to the present day, and addresses classical themes of equality. Issues considered include the relationship of feminism to the building of democracy, its impact on legislative and educational changes, suffragism, the feminist movement in the 1970s, and the challenges for the new millennium.
