Dykes occur in a wide variety of geological and tectonic settings and their detailed study through space and time is imperative for understanding several geological events. Dykes are believed to be an integral part of continental rifting and when they occur as spatially extensive swarms of adequate size, they can be of immense utility in continental reconstructions and also help to identify Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs). It is known that continental flood basalts and major dyke swarms have their origin related in some way to the up-rise of hot mantle plumes which may lead to rifting and eventual continental break-up. Dykes signify crustal extension and are important indicators of crustal stabilisation events, supercontinental assembly and dispersal, crust-mantle interaction and play a significant role in the delineation of crustal provinces as well as in deciphering crustal evolution events. Many economic mineral deposits of the world are also associated with a variety of dykes. The volume will provide state-of-the-art information on all aspects of dykes with emphasis on the origin, evolution and emplacement of dykes.

Scientific Study from the year 2024 in the subject Physics - Astronomy, , language: English, abstract: An investigation has been made to study the cosmic-ray decreases occurring during 2006 with respect to the arrival times of interplanetary shocks and magnetic clouds. We have identified three interplanetary magnetic cloud events during 5 February 2006, 13 April 2006 and 14 April 2006. The interplanetary magnetic field (B), north-south component of interplanetary magnetic field (Bz), solar wind velocity, sunspot number (R) and disturbance storm time index (Dst) associated with these events has been studied in the present work. Data (neutron monitor count rate) from Newark Neutron Monitor 9NM64 has been used. The north-south component of IMF (Bz) produce large geomagnetic disturbance on the onset of interplanetary magnetic clouds. The deviations in the interplanetary and solar wind plasma parameters are significantly correlated to the magnetic cloud events. The increase in Dst index, sunspot number (R) and Bz after the magnetic cloud event produces increase in cosmic ray intensity.

On the political conditions of India between 1977-2007; a study.

It is obvious that any country would like to have various options to pursue the goals of its foreign policy, viz. diplomacy, military, economy and lastly, cultural heritage. In Bhutan s case, being a small and landlocked state, the military option is out of question due to its weak military position, and lack of funds to maintain defence force. But the remaining three options, diplomacy, economic development and cultural status have proved to be quite useful. Bhutan, in fact has utilised the above three options to the maximum extent to formulate its own foreign policy. Overall the impression, which we get is that with Bhutan has succeeded in maintaining its sovereign status and relative autonomy of action in the World Politics.
