The immigrant ancestor, Gasper Shmit (Schmitt) (1723-1784) was born in Germany. He came to America at the age of 27 in 1750 from Inglesheim, Germany on the ship Phoenix. In 1758 he married Margaret age 35 (b. ca. 1723). He bought land in Rowan Co., N.C. in 1761, and became a naturalized citizen in 1765. At this time he changed his name Gasper Shmit to Casper Smith.

Family history and genealogical information about the descendants of Friedrich Leberecht Weidner who was born 15 August 1811 in Germany. He immigrated to America aboard the ship "Galliott Concordia" and arrived in Galveston, Texas 25 November 1854. Friedrich was married two times in Germany and once in America. He settled in New Braunfels, Comal Co., Texas and was the father of fifteen children. Descendants lived primarily in Texas.

Griffith Rutherford was born in 1721 in Ireland and immigrated as an infant to New Jersey (both his parents were lost at sea). He moved to Halifax Co., North Carolina and married Elizabeth E. Graham in 1754. He died in 1805.
