The Market for Employment, Personnel, and Security
From the back cover: The industries considered in this study, all part of the rapidly growing services to business managemement sector, are very different in terms of the regulatory environments in which they operate. Employment agencies have traditionally been very strictly regulated, indeed banned outright in some provinces, but the trend appears to be toward relaxation of regulations. Personnel suppliers (the temporary help industry) have not been regulated, and there appears to be no pressure to introduce regulation. Security and investigation services are partially regulated, in the sense that agencies and personnel must be licensed, but there are no obvious ill effects on market performance of these regulations....This study examines recent growth in these industries, and the forces underlying that growth, in an attempt to anticipate future trends.
