El libro estudia las múltiples causas y motivaciones que determinan el nacimiento de la Semana Santa, los fines diversos que aquélla persigue, religiosos, políticos, sociales, económicos, benéficos, culturales y recreativos; así como la evolución de las cofradías y el origen de las denominadas de pasión o penitencia.

La presente obra se compone de más de un centenar de capítulos breves donde se abarcan distintos estudios englobados en los ámbitos de Psicología, Salud y Educación. Con este trabajo se pretende que profesionales como psicólogos, logopedas, enfermeros, médicos, educadores… que intervienen en la prevención y la promoción de la salud a lo largo de todo el ciclo vital, desde la primera infancia hasta nuestros mayores, tengan un lugar común donde encuentren una recopilación de las recientes investigaciones generadas en este ámbito. Sin lugar a duda la Salud constituye un campo de naturaleza interdisciplinar que, sin el apoyo, la coordinación y el trabajo común, vería mermado el logro de su finalidad fundamental, mejorar la calidad de vida de la persona.

At a time in our history where the Spanish Mexican roots of this great place we call Texas are being questioned, this third volume of selected essays is most timely.
