Piano music of recently re-discovered American composer, Helen C. Crane (1868 - 1930), whose voluminous work, published and in m.s. form, has up to this time languished in the special archives of a NY library. now here to greet a new generation of pianists and a new listening audience. Ms. Crane a native New Yorker a pianist / composer was a student of Philip Scharwenka at the Klindworth Scharwenka Conservatory in Berlin, Germany in the 1890's. Her talent and training led to a noteworthy career as composer conductor and pedagogue in Europe up until the advent of the First World War. Published at the time by numerous publishing houses in Europe her output spanned 71 numbered works, including music for piano, for string trio, quartets, choral pieces many tone-poems for orchestra, a large scale work for orchestra and chorus and two symphonies. This book represents a mixed collection of intermediate to advanced piano pieces.
