Egret Readers are a series of supplementary readers encompassing aspects of science, environmental science, health education, agriculture, social studies and English language teaching. Titles in the series are linked by a common theme - the relationship between man and his environment. Each book consists of an illustrated story followed by lesson material, exercises, suggestions for practical follow-up activities and notes for the teacher or parent. The series operates at two levels - level one is aimed at upper primary readers, while level two can be read by lower secondary pupils. This text is on level one. Its focus is the importance of conserving trees, other plants and animals.
