Francis X. Carroll, MD, FACS, FCCP, was born, educated, and trained in New York City. After serving in the US Navy, he received a BA degree from New York University with a major in Russian Language and Literature. He next received his MD degree from the SUNY College of Medicine in Brooklyn, where he had the opportunity to receive instruction from his father, Hugh Carroll, MD, distinguished professor of medicine. Dr. Carroll completed his residency in General Surgery at St. Vincent''s Hospital in Manhattan, where he met and married his wife of 33 years, Dr. Lyda Rojas. Next, Dr. Carroll returned to SUNY Brooklyn to receive fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery, completed in 1995. Dr. Carroll is double board-certified in Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. He was a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the New York Society for Vascular Surgery, as well as the New York General Thoracic Surgery Club. He is a past president of the Putnam County Medical Society.
