Prayer means different things to different people. To some it is a ritual that they participate in during worship services or before meals. To some it is a time to recite a list of needs before they start their day. To others, it is an experience of desperately begging God to meet their needs. For the mature in faith, however, prayer is a time to experience a close intimacy with their Heavenly Father. How we view and experience prayer is often determined by our religious culture, family practice, our denomination, or by our own beliefs about God. Our desire with this study is to come together across denominational and cultural lines by examining God's Word and allowing it to shape our understanding. We will look closely at what God's Word says concerning prayer, focusing on the passages in II Chronicles 7:14-15, so we can understand the soul condition God responds to as we seek His face in prayer. Seeking the Face of God is based on II Chronicles 7:14-16. "if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time." There are six lessons in the study. Designed with small groups in mind, each lesson has a key verse, goal of the week, lesson illustrations, key points outline and discussion questions. Lesson titles are:1. Created for Relationship 2. In this study, we will seek to understand the indispensable qualities that determine the intrinsic nature of God's truth. We will look at how God has revealed His truth to His creation and the power that truth has in the life of the believer in Jesus Christ. Being Renewed is a spiritual renewal study that is impacting and transforming lives for Christ both locally and globally. It is a journey through the word of God designed to help us understand how God, through His word and His Spirit, desires to renew, transform, and fill the soul. It deals with the "inner man" and is the process of putting off the old self with its practices and putting on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its Creator, from Colossians 3:10.
