In the thirties and forties of this century Eddington's name was a household word in the English-speaking world, and even beyond, as the result of his publication of semi-popular books of science and philosophy, including much material found controversial. In a more restricted, but world-wide, circle, he was revered for his outstanding contributions to astronomy, and physics, especially in kinematics of stars, relativity theory and astrophysics.

It is not too often that a brilliant scientist is also a wonderfully gifted writer. Sir Arthur Eddington was both. Brought up as a Quaker (he was a pacifist during World War One), Eddington was by all accounts a brilliant mathematician and physicist, who eventually became a Professor of Astronomy at Cambridge University. Sir Arthur Eddington is perhaps most famous for partially confirming Albert Einstein's theory of relativity back in 1919. Sir Arthur Eddington was also famous as a popularizer of science and for advocating a more mystical view of the universe, one which exceeded the grasp of materialistic science. In this regard he was something of a renegade and though his writings on the mathematics of relativity won universal praise, his more spiritually speculative philosophy was met with resistance in more staid scientific quarters. The following book includes selections from Eddington's two most well known writings, The Nature of the Physical World and Space, Time, and Gravitation. The excerpts that we included are "On the Nature of Things" and "Reality." Hopefully these small literary gems will serve as intellectual appetizers to readers not familiar with Sir Arthur Eddington and inspire one to look deeper into this fascinating man and his scientific philosophy on the universe at large and our precarious place within it. Also included is a brief biography which goes into some detail about his life and work.

Through The Eyes Of A Child (MANIA FOR A DAY) is a story about an aspiring, strong, ambitious and determined 19 year old teenager who joined the Army to take care of her 2 year old son and herself. Always trying to do the right thing, she got caught up in the game of peer pressure, sex and a premature marriage to the wrong young man. She was never controlled or forced to have low esteem or to be humble, meek or low. She thought that her husband was outside his mind because he was trying to make her into his mother.

The majority of people presume reality to be as perceived. They believe the five biological senses transmit to them directly the aspects of reality. They also believe the early conceptions of time and space to be uniform and absolute. The majority of people assume reality to be an absolute thing, capable of being understood to some degree. Yet, this is not so. Upon scrutiny of perceptual compositions, one cannot use perceptual or even scientific knowledge as a basis for any accurate model of reality. The reality, which we can only know, is the reality that is in our mind.
