Fruit
Isn't fruit a wonderful treat? This book is full of fun and beautiful pictures and sculptures of fruit, including melons, strawberries, grapes, apples, peaches, mangoes, bananas, pineapples, pomegranates, persimmons, and even dragon fruit! It includes 10 world-class artworks featuring fruit and a bit of information about each with questions and comments meant to get you and your little ones looking closely at the pictures together and exploring what you see. In Fruit you'll see a monkey stealing a bunch of grapes in a French rococo painting, two guys hanging out in a miniature Japanese persimmon sculpture, and a glorious selection of fruit painted on a canvas so large it might be bigger than your little one! Learn more at www.artthatsfun.com. Fruit is part of a series called Art Adventures for Children, written by an art historian and mother of two along with her daughter and husband. They created the series to inspire children and the adults who love them to bond and have fun using first-rate artworks as shared vantage points. In addition to the benefits of the special time looking and reading together with loved ones, children may build particular skills such as 1) visual literacy (so important in our world increasingly dominated by images), 2) critical thinking, 3) creativity, 4) focus, and 5) familiarity with different parts of the world and the variety things you can make with different materials--all while having fun! A portion of the proceeds from the Art Adventures for Children series will be donated to art education nonprofit organizations focused on children.
