Study of the labour market impacts of technological change, involving use of national data sets such as CANSIM and MESIM with projections to 1995, and a special survey of 1000 Canadian establishments and detailed study of some innovating organizations. The packaging industry has grown into a major source of employment for the Canadian economy. This large sector uses highly specialized technologies such as the processing and manufacturing of plastics, glass, metal and pulp and paper. This Packaging Glossary contains recent, rarely defined and hard-to-find bilingual terminology that will be of interest to anyone working in this field.

This vocabulary contains approximately 950 English and 1,000 French terms accompanied by definitions, explanatory contexts, usage samples, phraseological units and linguistic notes. A special effort has been made to cross-reference related terms. The names of some key national and federal organizations and publications have been included.

The bulletin contains approximately 6000 bilingual definitions taken not only from the definitions at the beginning of the statutes, but also from the body of the statutes. It includes definitions which simply refer to sections of an act, as these may be useful in understanding terms specific to federal administration.
