Generations of LDS readers have wondered: Who were the young warriors the prophet Helaman briefly mentions in his letters to his friend General Moroni? Ixtil was a little boy when his father, King Lamoni, was slaughtered for his Christianity. Now the new king has sworn to drink the blood of Ixtil’s family, the former royals, and to exterminate all those who have made a covenant with God never again to take up weapons of war. As Ixtil approaches adulthood the People of the Covenant are threatened once again with annihilation.
