The memoirs of Maria Botchkareva (1889-1920), who according to the book, was a woman of peasant stock who formed a woman's battalian sympathetic to the white Tsarist army, met Woodrow Wilson and King George V, and appealed for support against the Red Army. Executed by the Cheka in 1920.
